We parked at the Bog, and headed up the hill.

The Stones were formed when the sandstone / quartzite were shattered by repeated freezing & thawing. Later, magma forced its way through the cracks, leaving rich seams of lead and barytes ready for Human Beans to dig up and sell.

Geology in action…

It was bright and very breezy up the top, but the views were magnificent

We dropped off the hill and headed along the western front back to the car park and lunch.

We got ice-cream at the Visitor Centre before heading off for the afternoon – we were fairly sure it would be closed by the time we got back!

We walked round the back of Nipstone Rock and up to Lindley Hill. There was an earthwork on top, but hard to see.
