The whole site is in the process of being handed over to the National Trust, so several of the museums were closed (for handover, assessment, refurbishment, etc)

We walked through the woods up Coalbrookdale, and along behind the back of the town. The views over the gorge would have been magnificent, if it weren’t for all the trees in the way.

We came out at Blists Hill, a reconstructed Victorian town. We stopped for an ice cream and to use the loos, but it was a bit late in the day for a proper visit.

We walked back down to the river and reached the china works by the canal.

It was rather disappointing to find the footbridge over the river was closed for maintenance, and we had to walk along the road back to the village. But we did see some interesting things on the way!

We definitely deserved a pint when we got to the village – and then home for burgers & chips.
