2026-09-14 Powis Castle

The forecast looked OK, but the cloud seemed quite low, so we decided to have an easy day and a look round Powis Castle.

Sadly the castle itself was closed for rewiring and the Clive museum wasn’t open yet. So we toured the garden (in on/off drizzle) and collected information for a geocache.

After lunch we inspected the loot in the Clive museum (so many swords!) – but no pictures allowed.

We had an ice cream in the courtyard, and then nipped into Welshpool for some shopping and a stroll along the canal.

By the time we got home, Diane had arrived and the sun had come out, so we had our cup of tea in the garden before sausage & chips for supper.
