It was forecast for rain, so we had an easy day in Shrewsbury.

We started with a walk along the river, around the loop of the town.

We also made a circuit of the Dingle, as designed by Percy Thrower when he was Superintendent of the parks. It still looked amazingly flowery, even in mid-September – Shrewsbury Council is single-handedly keeping the bedding industry alive!

We had lunch in a cafe by the river, and then inspected the Castle & gardens and admired the view from Laura’s tower.

We walked back through the town, appreciating the varied architecture all cheek by jowl as it evolved over time.

We spent the rest of the afternoon in the town museum. There was the usual collection of local Stuff, but arranged quite well.

No cooking tonight – we treated ourselves to a rather nice meal in the local pub.
