Well, at the weekend, the forecast for today was glorious sunshine… today, not so much! But it looked like it would probably be mostly ok, especially along the northern coast.
We parked by Nefyn beach.

The tide was in, so we had to walk along the clifftop rather than along the beach itself. It got a bit showery half way along – actually the rain wasn’t too bad, but the wind was blowing it horizontally! The pub we were heading for is tiny, and only accessible by foot, but there were a surprising number of people there – all with dogs or small children (or both).

The sun had come out now, although it was still very breezy. We walked up to the headland, from where we could see back to the pub.

The golf course ran right up to the end of the headland – there were golfers out even in today’s weather, although they did confess that too many balls ended up in the sea. We were promised seals; the tide was still a bit high for them to have good rocks to bask on, but we did see one prospecting.

By now the tide had dropped enough that we could walk back along the beach. We had to climb back to the cliff path to get round one headland, but then we dropped back down to Nefyn beach.

We got back to the cafe by the car park just as it was closing, but the lady let us get ice creams anyway – the people 5 minutes behind us weren’t so lucky! Then Mary went for a paddle, although Brian very definitely kept his boots on.

Home for burgers.
