We set aside the whinging paramedics and the disorganised retailers, turned off our pcs, and hit the road before 5pm. The drive over was easy but breezy – at one point, the car in front had to stop & heave some fallen branches out of the road!

We have a nice big room on the top floor of Middle House Hotel, with views over the valley to the fells beyond.

But the weather looked threatening, and we were a bit frazzled, so we ate in the hotel rather than going further afield. And very nice it was too!

After a couple of pints in the bar, we had an early night.
