2024-06-23 Elterwater & Skelwith Bridge

Another lovely forecast 😎

We parked in Elterwater and headed up out of the village through woods and towards the fells, with stunning views over the valleys.

We had lunch above Colwith Force, where the river Brathay drops 40ft.

We dropped down & down, through the woods to Skelwith Bridge.

At Skelwith Bridge there was another waterfall, not so big but much more accessible – and with plenty of people around. We also saw a woman swimming in the river – it didn’t look very warm!

As we approached Elterwater lake, there were more impressive views across to Langdale Pikes.

We had a well-deserved pint when we got back to the village

No, not a pint of water!

And home for a roast chicken dinner.
