Another excellent forecast, but after two hard-ish days we decided to take it slightly easier today.
We went over to Townend, in Troutbeck village. A 400 year old farmhouse, much altered over the years, with a fascinating history.

We strolled down to the beck to find a geocache, on an island in the stream with some good solid bridges.

We went to Stagshaw Garden for our picnic lunch. It’s mostly Azaleas & Rhododendron which have pretty much gone over now, but it would have been stunning a month ago.

We nipped to Booths for essentials and took them back to the house, then walked down to look at the Roman fort at Waterhead. It was very much “rems of” – just some rocks in a field! So we had an ice cream, and bought mum a new shirt, and came home for leek & mushroom pasta.

Total: 5 miles
