2024-06-16 Grasmere & Rydal

The weather forecast was for intermittent showers, so we decided to stay low-level – but there was no drop of rain all day!

We parked in Grasmere and walked along the side of the fells to Rydal. The weather was in fact excellent, so we had splendid views over the lake to the fells the other side. When we got to Rydal we explored the grounds of Rydal Hall.

The Cascade, from the Grotto

We carried on round to the far bank of Rydal Water, where we had our picnic

We climbed up to Loughrigg Terrace, and continued along the back of Rydal Water and then Grasmere itself

When we got back to the village we had an ice cream, then home for roast beef & jacket potatoes.
